Sandstone is no longer serene or resort-like

The Sandstone claims to have a "serene, resort-like setting" in their ads.
This was true whem I first moved there.
It was quiet, the amenities were good, and the management was very good.
None of that applies now after the change in ownership and management companies.
I have read the posts from my former neighbors.
Even the positive ones mention the problems with security, crime, noise, and management.
They were not overstating the problems.
I do have a few things to add.
There was no on-site security, but the security patrol would address problems if you called them.
The real problem was an influx of rude, inconsiderate tenants after the change in ownership/management.
The new management was unwilling to enforce policies.
Even when confronted with problems, they were reluctant to deal with them.
Running a day care operation was against the rules, but management turned a blind eye to it even when it turned into a noise and safety problem.
The day care provider had a flier posted in the laundry room for weeks.
Management denied ever seeing it until after I showed it to them.
One of the posts from my former neighbors complained about the noise from the landscapers.
True, the grounds were very nice.
But under the old regime, it took less than one full day a week to take care of the mowing, trimming, etc.
When I moved out, the landscapers were there two days a week and part of a third.
It looked like management was being taken for a ride.
The one maintenance person I saw around at the end always seemed to be talking on his cell phone or taking off in his car.
There was a lawn sprinkler head near my unit that was broken for over two weeks.
One day, I showed the broken sprinkler to the maintenance person.
He just nodded, and sure enough, his cell phone rang.
Nothing was done.
Maintenance and management both let the problems with the gates get out of hand.
What is the point of having a gated community if the gates were always left open' The problem started before the buzzer system was broken.
The real problem is that the locks on the apartment doors were very cheap.
The good locks were on the gates.
This made the apartments very vulnerable to breakins.
Other posts talked about a drug problem.
There was a lot of suspicious activity around the complex.
In fact, strangers knocked on my door several times.
There was also a problem with solicitors knocking on doors.
The pool turned into a chronic problem this year.
Under the old management, the pool rules worked very well.
Everyone enjoyed the pool and there were no problems.
Under new management, the rules were ignored.
Management told me several times that the posted (old) rules were still in effect.
In reality, they didn't care what went on.
The pool turned into a gathering place for the surrounding neighborhood.
Loud parties became the norm.
I moved out of the Sandstone because it was going downhill fast.
I feel bad for the good people that are sticking it out.
It is not going to turn around.
If you can put up with questionable neighbors, round the clock noise, and uncaring management in a declining neighborhood, sign a lease.
Otherwise, stay away!
