What the authors of this letter refuse to put down is that the new owners and managers of this property have in just a couple months time done more than has been done for this property in years. The old poly pipe is being replaced and many of the princesses on this property can't put up with a little inconvenience. Sure it's not great yet, but they are replacing the water pipes so they don't break in the middle of the night, have given us a nice new clubhouse, gated property coming up, painting the buildings and really trying hard to make this property as safe as it can be. The new management staff works very hard and I've been in the office when this group of residents comes in acting like a bunch of jerks to them. Come on people, give them a chance and if you think they're rude, just see how you are acting then ask yourself if you deserve it. Grow up!

The "little princesses" on this property just expect fair treatment. I have been living with only one third of my apartment's usable space and a third of my closet space since this re-plumbing project began three weeks ago. There has been no concession on my rent though I am paying for 100% usable space. I cannot use my TV, stereo, or computer. The microwave (and everything else standard to a kitchen counter top) has to be off the counter, so it cannot be used. If anything has to be moved by the contractors, there will be a $50 charge.
The pipes do have to be replaced, but this was handled very poorly and is taking way too long to complete. Aside from refusing to discount this month's rent, I came home to a notice on my door saying that if I choose to renew my lease next month for an apartment with ten or more large holes in the walls and two huge sections of ceiling missing that they would be raising the rent over $68 per month than what I am paying now. This is a pretty poor way to "love your residents" who have been excellent tenants and a reliable source of income for over ten years. I have saved them a lot of preparation work for many years considering how many people do come and go. I have stayed on top of needed repairs, even getting the hot water heater replaced before it failed. I treat the unit with respect as if it was my own property.
The addition of a fence and gates in the parking lot was a waste of money. Last night two cars drove into the parking lot behind me while the gate remained open after I used my key. Anyone can walk through these gates, steal a car and drive out unhindered since the gates open automatically when approaching from the inside. The painting is also something that just has to be done. They are using the excuse of the expense of all of these "improvements" to justify the cost of raising their rents, when the property owner would be required to fix the plumbing problem any way. Maintenance has not been kept up over the years, and the new owner had to know what she was getting into. More investments in the property should be made before raising rent considering the crime-ridden neighborhood that cannot be changed. When I have an oven that overheats (350 degrees becomes 450 too quickly), a freezer that still has to be defrosted, and tiles separating on the kitchen and bathroom floors, the property has a long way to go before higher rent can be truly justified.
