Yo!

An OK Place

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004

I was at Scotia for a year, in a partially furnished 2BD 1BA. My roommate would ride his bike into the University on the Mountain bike route, I drove to campus because I was lazy. On a bike the place was about 15-20 minutes from campus.

Good:
Parking was great, there was plenty of covered parking and uncovered parking. My roommate and I had individual leases, which worked out well because we started at different times. Our furniture was brand new, still had the tags on it. There are two pools, which is nice. I loved the sauna, which is a bit of an odd thing to have in Arizona. I never used the weight room, and I don't think anyone else did either. My roommate would watch games on the big screen in the clubhouse, we were too cheap to spring for cable. The place is landscaped well, as mentioned later. The staff was nice and friendly to me.

Bad:
Well, first off our apartment was on the first floor near the pool. I think there were only 2 parties all year (which we were at mind you), but every Tuesday at 5 AM the
groundskeepers would start up the weed-wackers, etc. Also there is the issue of little kids. For some reason the place consists of college students and spanish speaking families with lots of little kids, which would run around screaming and playing at ungodly hours on Saturday. I could hear my upstairs neighbor at times. Then there is Maintenance. When we moved in the door to the hot water heater was missing-it was still missing when I left. When things would break it would take forever to get them fixed. We were without AC for about 2 weeks in the summer, and our dishwasher broke twice taking about a month each time to be repaired. A friend of time next door had a similar problem with her AC. Oh yeah, watch out for that non-refundable portion of the deposit, mine was $175.
