some good, some bad, but the move out was a nightmare...

We lived in this complex for a little over 2 years.

The experience overall is adequate.

There is lack of natural lighting but the spacious living room makes up for it.

The major complaint I have is about our move out.

We purchased a puppy 6 months before we moved out.

We paid our pet deposit, we paid our monthly rent.

However, at the end of our lease we were told we had to replace the entire carpet in the apartment.

We were never told there would be a risk of replacing the entire floor.

We understood that the pet deposit would be used to make any of the necessary cleaning that might have to be done.

We were told not to have the carpets cleaned when we were moving out.

We followed the rules.

In the end the manager of the complex told us they had a family, who is extremely allergic to pets of any kind, moving into the apartment and that all of the carpeting had to be removed for that reason.

We told the manager that our dog was not allowed in two of the bedrooms.

Regardless of that fact the carpets were going to be replaced because the company the complex employs no longer has that color carpeting.

I felt the family and the lack of carpeting was not our issue or responsibility.

At this point it was obvious that excuses were being made in the pursuit of a new carpet at no cost to them.

1,700 dollars later, we are finally done with the ordeal.

The 1,700 included some other fees we had to pay in addition to the carpeting even though the manager said our walk through was fantastic and that we shouldnât have any more costs.

Please ask very detailed questions before you move in with a pet.

Ask exact questions and get it in writing.

Personally, I really don't think that a puppy using your carpet as their own potty pad is very sanitary- is it?

Exactly the same thing happened to me, except the manager failed to show up for the walk through, then charged us for exactly the same thing, replacing the entire carpet. Difference was that our dog was a potty trained older dog that NEVER went in the house. As per management instructions, we didnt clean the carpets when we vacated either. By state law, I had the right, and requested to be present when the final inspection was done. They did it without my presence, and charged me for replacement. I refused to pay it, and they put it on my credit report.I would be very cautious about moving into this complex, but if you do, ignore the "do not clean carpets before inspection" instructions that they have.
