The genius who wrote a review for the WRONG Sierra Pointe notwithstanding...this is a pretty nice place for a newcomer to the area (student, transplant, military, whatever)

I actually found the place on-line (moved from NYC to TUC) and was pleasantly surprised that my unit was newly redone, updated appliances, new carpet, the pool was clean, the property clean/quiet and the bus stop around the corner. I found out later that the rent does run a bit high for the area (but coming from NYC the rent was like chickenscratch to me) it is a relief to have most utilities included (no big deposits, lights already on, AC already blasting)...they had some flim-flam with the electric where the entire complex pays what the monthly average use is so you write a rent check and an electric check (but the electricity share never cost more than $30..even in summer peak AC blasting time)

Alicia in the office was very professional and pleasant to deal with and I never had any problems with my unit. Never a problem with bugs (except the monsoon visiters that hang around the trees, but thats outside and seasonal to the region--the first time I saw a Palo Verde beetle I almost fainted)

In all I really liked staying at Sierra Pointe and was grateful for the inclusive amenities and utilities. Another bonus, I didnt have a car my first year in Tucson and was so grateful for the bus stop around the corner, #9 bus goes directly to UA campus/downtown (actually its close enough to campus to walk in a pinch cuz SunTran is pretty pathetic)in one direction and to the grocery store/shopping in the other. I know the rent has probably gone up alot since I left in 2006 but hell...its like that all over.

I felt pretty safe at SP...there wasnt much Tucson was gonna throw at me to scare me after living in NYC, but it can get rough in some areas up on Grant St. The neighborhood is established with lots of well tended homes and any rowdiness at SP wasnt long tolerated. Most of my neighbors were mature adults, serious students, some retirees...I only ever saw 2 school aged children and I saw those kids like twice the whole time, never heard em.

Anywho, Thats my take, I've got great memories of this place compared to other hellholes I've lived. hth
