Mostly good but on the decline...

I'll keep it brief - 2 years in the complex. Although the quality of the units is very nice, and things are generally kept up, I have to agree with other reviewers. The handling of rent is constantly bungled. I haven't had the lost check issue, but it seems rarely a month goes by where my account isn't screwed up in some way. And it is true - it is about impossible to talk to a live person, or the right person when you do happen to get someone live. While I like the units, they are very bright, and the atmosphere is nice, I am seeing a sudden increase in riff-raff moving in, and good people moving out. Punks and gang-bangers seem also on the rise. People speed through a tiny parking lot with blind corners unchecked, and signs of neglect are on rise (weeds, tired paint, etc.) Lastly, the rents are going though the roof - I know quite a few good people here who are experiencing up to 10% increases in rent. They're moving out, and the trash is moving in.

Just one question: if the rents are going up, how is it that "the trash" is moving in? Thanks in advance for explaining...and I'm not being flippant. My question is sincere.

RE: Tucson Rental Homes. In the sense that a good quiet clean renter is replaced by someone with a loud stereo with a gigantic dog that is literally eating the house inside and out, barking, stinking dog crap, etc. Just one example. Nice retired couple moves out, and drug dealer moves in (now with a constant parade of strangers to their back door). College student moves out, and boozing drunk divorcee moves in (then comes the yelling/fighting at all hours of the night). More and more speeding, derilict cars, gang bangers, pool parties, and suspicious behavior. The staff who can barely seem to get to work orders in under 6 months are completely obsessed with "checking the light in your back yard". And how do they do that? Well they have to come through the house of course, not through the gate to the back yard. At least 4-6 times in the last year alone. I could go on and on... I don't think it is really about the cost. It may even have to do with the mortgage meltdown. Don't get me wrong, there are still many pluses. But as I said, the signs of decline are really obvious. I've been shopping around already. But here's some advice - if by chance you are considering a 3B, you can probably rent a private home for the same or less. Maybe even buy something for less. Hope that helps clarify.
