i moved in a little over a year ago and within that time the complex has gone through several periods of change. after i first moved in the complex was in the process of getting rid of unsavory residents. once that occurred the complex was pretty ok. but then the management changed again and the unsavory characters returned. the residents treat the common areas like their own personal garbage can and the management can't keep a maintanence person long enough to clean it up. the locks to the gates were constantly being broken and the management wouldn't fix them. once some residents complained about the noise of the banging gates the management "fixed" the problem by holding the gates open with a u-lock (yeah a bike lock). so i don't really know how the gates were supposed to work. then, without any notice to the residents, the management decided to completely remove the gates and it does not appear that they will be putting new ones back up. i feel that this is a violation of my lease on their part because i signed that lease based on the "gated community" which it is no longer. they also allow a lot of people to share one apartment. the one bedroom above me has about 5-6 people and the the 2 bedroom across the way has about 8 people. it definitely adds to the shady character of this place.

on the positive side...my apartment is pretty big and the rent is relatively cheap. the block walls that separate apartments keep the noise down and i barely notice my neighbors. small courtyards are available on some units which is nice for kids or pets.
