Don't move into any apartment that doesn't have new carpeting. They "pro-rate" their carpeting, so if yours is old when you move in, you're the one that gets to buy it.
I called two carpet cleaning professionals and was informed that this is quite a common scam. There is NO way to get a carpet permanently cleaned. Period. If you spill something on the carpet, it can and likely will appear later if it seeps back. If it is a bio-stain, it will likely come back at some point in time.
This complex inspects the Apts. with a black light after you move out. We ran our own blacklight after we found this out (while we were moving), and all I can say is "GROSS"! There were stains there that were OBVIOUSLY not ours. Stains that were under chest freezers that never moved. Under stereo systems. This is a scam. We lost all of our 200.00 security deposit and then they had the nerve to charge us another 170ish. The most important part of this is that both toilets backed up multiple times and the ceiling upstairs fell in and leaked all over. THey never cleaned up anything.
Everyone gets ripped off this way. That's why their security deposits are ludicrous. They have every intention of keeping it.
Our issue is in the collections stage now. We're seeking legal now. It should be a class action though.
