new management blase

I have been a resident here for over 5 years. The place was great up until a few months ago...the manager, leasing agent, and maintenance personnel were really great! They made it feel like home, not just a place to pay rent. The staff were friendly and genuinely interested in hearing about the residents lives and concerns. Maintenance problems were addressed in a timely manner, although occasionally it might take a couple times to solve the problem. The service you received from management, was unparalleled compared to other corporate owned rental properties. The old staff are now all gone.

I have had problems reaching the emergency pager number after hours, as have several other residents I've spoken with. On one occasion someone had a dryer catch on fire, and although the manager lives on site, and in the same building, she was unavailable for several hours. Another told me that their kitchen was flooded from an appliance problem, and again there was no way to contact anyone on staff.

Many of the residents have lived here for years, with discounts usually given at renewal time. They have just raised a neighbor of mine's rent $200, mine $230.00. There is a clubhouse that used to be free to use. Now they are charging not only a $200- deposit, but also $50.00 fee just to use it. They have started to gouge on everything. As a result, many of the longtime residents, both professionals and students are leaving.

Exorbitant electric bills is not uncommon... I have paid up to $160-in July for AC in a small 2 bedroom apt. The apartment layouts are nice, with fireplace and washer/dryers in the units, but most of the appliances are old, unattractive, and sometimes a noisy nuisance. (The AC units make a lot of noise, and can become overbearing if you live on the second floor.) Parking can also be a problem if you have more than 1 car in your household, as each unit comes with only one assigned space. When my lease expires, I'm not renewing or not for long! For Tucson, it's just gotten way too impersonal, and way too expensive!
