CHANGE YOUR LOCKS!!!!!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 6/26/2009
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
On Monday, June 8th, I requested a wasp nest removal from outside my front door. On Friday, June 12th, they removed it. On June 19th just after 2:30 in the afternoon, I was abruptly woken up from a nap to a 6'3" guy holding a canister standing at the foot of my bed (while I was lying naked on top the covers) yelling "HELLO, PEST CONTROL!!" I asked him why he was in my home and he said the office gave him the keys because I had requested pest control. I called the office and asked them why they gave him the keys to my apartment. She said I requested a spraying for bugs and that I was on the list. I told her to check her list again because I never requested any spraying. She checked her list and say "You wanted a wasp nest removed." I said yes, OUTSIDE MT FRONT DOOR! She said, yes, that is what it says here, outside the front door. Then she got defensive and said, "Well, I'm not the one who gave him your keys."
This is a SERIOUS violation of privacy. The pest control company they use is by contract and NOT a part of the staff here. He never should have been given my keys to begin with. They should have escorted him in if there was a need. But, there was NOT a need for him or anyone to be in my apartment. When I did not answer the door to begin with, they should have called me. So, go ahead, get an apartment here. I will be glad to hit any second hand clothing store and dress up as a service worker and ask for your keys while you are away from home.
That was just the latest issue with them. The day we moved in, I took off my shoes and within minutes my socks were filthy because they did not shampoo the carpet before we moved in. They just vacuumed. Within the first few days of moving in, we asked them to clear the bathtub and the bathroom sink drains and fix the bedroom closet door since the rail was broken and the door kept falling off onto the bed. The toilet also wouldn't stop running no matter how much you jiggled the handle. Several weeks later, I was emptying the bathtub out with a bucket and it still took 2 calls and another visit to the office to have the maintenance man come fix it.To this day the closet door is propped up behind the entertainment center since they never fixed it.
The air conditioner started having problems the first month we were here. After speaking with the office staff several times, the maintenance man comes over, walks into the bathroom and flushes the toilet, looks at us, says he needs a part and walks back out, never to be seen again. We finally had to have the neighbors translate our issue to him in spanish.
The staff here is a whole other issue. In the two years we have been here, they have had 6 different set of staff members. It's not that one or two people just move on, it's a whole new rotation every time. The office was always locked no matter what time of day you went there. One day my husband went to the office 5 times just to try to pay the rent! They have gotten better at keeping the office open with this new staff, but as you can see from my first paragraph, they are far from adequate workers.
This is supposed to be a "secured" complex, yet just about every gate here is broken. When they do fix them, they are broken before the week is out. I have used my gate key twice since living here. The drive thru gates are always broken as well. We didn't get a clicker until about 8 months ago because they were always out of them. One day while my husband was in the office about a year ago, one person moving out turned in 4 of them. My husband asked if he can have one and they told him to come back in a few days and that they will put his name on one of them because they needed to change the batteries in them. He went back and they didn't have any left. When the exit gate is broken and won't open, we have had to drive to the entrance gate and walk out the gate, enter the code for the gate to open, then walk back around to be able to drive out.
If you ever want to figure out what your neighbors are doing, just stay home! You can hear every footstep they take, hear what they are watching on t.v., know when they flush their toilet or shower, etc. That could come in handy for me one day when your cable goes down. Just put your ear against the bedroom wall (or to make it more interesting, the ceiling) and listen to Young and the Restless on your neighbors television. Or, you can just take a lounge chair outside and listen to the dogs left out on the patios / balconies barking all day and night, if you please.
Oh, and going back to the privacy issues, one day we went outside to find someone elses eviction notice on our door. When we took it to the office, they said "Oops, that's not yours." Twice they have said we hadn't paid our rent and left notices on our door so we have had to take them copies of the cleared checked that was given to them on the 1st, as it always is.
So, if you are an excellent maintenance worker, a nosy person who wants to keep up with the neighbors, or one that doesn't mind strange men standing at the foot of your bed while you are napping naked, then by all means, fill out an application today!
