looks nice outside but WATCH OUT!

Most importantly: read your lease. *you have no legal protection in this lease* that we could find! (we consulted a lawyer)You can be thrown out at the drop of a hat, but there is *no* way for you to leave early and forfeit your deposit. If you fail out of school, get dropped from financial aid, have a close family-member die and need to go home, etc... there is *no* way for you to end your lease and you will have to pay it in full. These people will go out of their way to avoid you and will not work with you.
The lease states that they are not responsible for the safety of your person or property (including your car in their lot), which shows you that they probably know it is likely that something may happen to you. And yet, the lights are usually broken, there are *no* security cameras or security guards. Considering how much they are overcharging tennants, they should be able to afford some sort of security.
I tried to leave because I am honestly afraid to live here. I?ve heard a car break-in outside of my window (and seen several cars with smashed windshields), had my bicycles (that had a U-lock the size of my arm through the bodies as well as aircraft cable through the bases and wheels) stolen. The outdoor lights are frequently smashed to shreds at the parties (there are 6 red-tagged apartments that I have counted in the past 2 months) that often keep residents awake until 2-4 a.m. on the weekends(which explains why it is so quiet during the day). There is no longer an outgoing mailbox b/c of past mail theft. I have come home to people climbing out of the dumpsters.
Maitenance requests are promptly responded to most of the time, but if you need *anything* beyond that, it is a nightmare to deal with the office (after trying to explain the concept of a ?car cover? to the office manager for about 5 minutes, I almost gave up.)Your friends will not be able to visit during the day b/c there is no guest parking and the strip of nearby parking is *full* during the day (and I would not leave my car here at night). The inside of the apartment is made as cheaply as possible; the cabinets are not even straight and most everything seems to be made with ply-wood. I can see sunlight from cracks in my front wall....no insulation or what' The interior doors are even hollow. The interior trim and cabinets are messily painted over with white b/c the paint jobs have been so bad. Our counter-tops are chipped and stained. The carpet is stained black all in front of the door. Take a look for yourself!
