I've been a resident of 1901 Shoreline for almost a year but, unlike the previous reviewer, I've found the management to be very accommodating, professional and responsive to maintenance issues. This is a small complex and the buildings are older, but well kept and in good repair. Although I personally haven't had a mildew issue, I do know that management does what it can to prevent and eliminate this specific problem. All new tenants are made aware of the potential for mildew to develop (inevitable with the damp beach air) and are encouraged to clean regularly, watch for any occurrences, and notify management of any sign of mildew in their unit immediately.
I've had pleasant conversations with many of my neighbors, some of whom have been residents here for several years. I've never encountered another resident that didn't offer at least a smile or hello in passing. There is a friendly sense of community here, with dogs being walked and kids playing together outside in the courtyard. People actually use the pool on the weekends, and the two laundry rooms on the premises are clean and reliable. The location, with the beach right across the street, is convenient to several A.C. Transit Lines, making for an easy daily commute. A large dog park, two grocery stores, Park Street Shopping District and the newly renovated Alameda Town Center shopping mall are all within a comfortable walking distance.
In reading the reviews for this apartment building, I noticed that the majority of negative comments were posted before the current management took over. If the obvious poor performance of prior management was eliminated and the results of the reviews were based only on the services provided by the current management team, I believe the overall rating for this complex would be substantially higher.
