Many, many problems

The location is great for access to San Francisco (ferry travel is the BEST). And Alameda is safer & quieter than communities close by. However, there are problems:
Apartments close to 3rd Street have to contend with almost constant noise & no parking. Because of the high school across the road, everytime there is a night dance/basketball/football game, there is no street parking (& it would be dangerous to park on the street because of vandalism by the kids). The kids sit on the apartment side of the street daily & leave their cigarette butts & lunch garbage behind. They climb over the fence & trespass through the complex, using the pool, etc. During the weekend days, there are baseball/football games. There is also a pool across the street. Swim practice starts at 5:00 AM with the accompanying noise & when there is a swim meet on the weekends, there is again no street parking. In the summer, there is no parking when it closes around dinner time because parents clog up the street, double parking until their kids appear. Also, because 3rd street is a dead end, there is partying, high speed driving, stunting, etc. which the police seem to ignore despite frequent calls. The lowest point is during the annual Band Contest when huge, smelly buses start arriving at 6 - 7:00 am & the street is completely closed while hundreds of kids practice their marching & playing right outside your window.
Some of the office staff try to be helpful but I have never received a call back from the Manager despite several messages left regarding a serious breach of my lease - the Maintenance staff entered my apartment several times with no notice or permission despite the fact that I had a note on my file that there would be no permission to enter given unless I was home.
I was calling Maintenance almost every week for various problems inside & out, burned out walk & garage lights, flooded sidewalks, laundry machines that didn't work, a broken water pipe in my ceiling, taps that leaked (& still didn't work properly even after they were supposedly fixed), no hot water (several times I had to shower in the gym), broken dishwasher, etc., etc. The emergency maintenance pager line didn't work because I never received a call back from any of my emergency calls. As well, the shower can either freeze or scald you depending on whether one of the other apartment dwellers next door is also showering or flushing their toilet. First thing in the morning & late at night, the water must be run for several minutes at full blast to get hot water.
They do allow 2 cats but the damage deposit is $500 EACH. They should charge that for children also as they are far noisier & destructive from what I see & hear around the complex.
There was a "peeping tom" running around for a while that was completely ignored by the staff despite pleas that something be mentioned to the residents so they could be aware.
The final straw is that I just found out that they are charging newcomers $80 less to move into apartments exactly like mine.
Good thing they forgot to send me a new lease when the last one ran out so I can now just give 30 days notice to move out.
