I lived in Ballena Village for over a year. I did enjoy the grounds and pool area (however, it seems to be getting more and more crowded, loud, and uncontained). Tons of kids at the pool (jumping over gates from the school,...). What started as a peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors has turned into a teenage and younger party.

More importantly...the apartments are old. Little has been done to maintain them...(bad water, leaks,...). I honestly did enjoy the area so decided to stay awhile longer, however, the super friendly staff was no longer very accomadating after I signed the lease. A quick switch of personality...quite alarming (and the constant turnovers of management and unskilled staff) made things a challenge and quite disapointing.

After moving, my apt was spotless (much better than when I moved in)...they automatically take your full deposit (without telling you) to get your apt. ready for the next renters. Then, they added on additional charges. Ridiculous!!!

I would say decide for yourself (i.e., look at other options). However, there are many places in beautiful Alameda where there is a more friendly living environment....with better apartments. These apartments charge much more than they are worth...and are not fully up-to-date on the rates (probably due to the lack of skill held by the employees). In addition, we were told that although great tenants...they would rather rent to others (for less) than work on our lease...a business decision. They are not working for their tenants....once you move in, they don't care about you.

This is an honest review...where you live is important.
