I use to live at the Dunes and I would not recommend anyone who is looking for an apartment to live here. The management is a white-trash lady, in her 50's,who lives alone on the property and is very, very nosey and badgers the residents constantly over the smallest things ( almost to the point of OCD)!!! I witnessed on three occasions the police entering her apartment to settle unknown disputes with people she brings over and I don't know how she is still the property manager! She is terrible at keeping the maintanence of apartment complex. It looks like a complete reck and its so filthy! Not only that, but the Dune apartments is located by a bowling ali which attracts many teenagers and the police are called out constantly to break up fights. There was one time the police blocked off the insection between the bowling ali and the Dunes for three hours because of a fight that broke out on a weekday and I was not able to enter my home for at least three hours! It happened around midnight and I was so pissed because of the inconvience this incident caused. Also, the amount to rent that you pay for these apartments is not worth the bull ---- that a resident has to put up with. There is limited parking, the pool is dirty, the recreation room is used as a storage unit and the garbage area is used as a dumping ground for used furniture and household items left by exiting tenants! I was so relieved when I left these apartments. So future tenants, do yourself a favor and save your money--DON"T LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Would not live there....
My husband and I have lived at the Dunes for over three years and have never been inconvenienced to the extent that this writer expresses. One should know that this review was written by someone who was "ushered" out and has a score to settle. The present manager DOES care about her residents and will do anything to assist with their moving in, moving out and existing living situation. Since she took over the management of the Dunes, the community atmosphere has changed ... folks actually greet each other with a friendlier, more cheerful attitude. Yes, we did have a brunch get-together this past fall. More than 50 residents showed up for the pot luck. We are planning another, too. So many have asked for another opportunity to get to know their neighbors. Remember... a warm, safe and comfortable community in which to live takes effort from EVERYBODY. Don't blame it all on mangement. How many times have you bent over to pick up a piece of paper or wiped a bug off the wall? This is OUR place to live. It belongs to ALL OF US! Put your energy where your mouth is. If you don't like something, do something positive about it and work together to change it.

Gosh, by reading these comments it seems that the Dunes is a very hostile place were I wouldnt feel very comfortable to live. I never knew of any place were on one hand the place is suppose to be very welcoming and on the other hand a place filled with so much drama!

I have been here for 2 years and completely disagree. There has never been any police commotion or any problems with visitors of the bowling alley. I live in an apt right near the bowling alley and occasionally there may be someone that is a little loud leaving the bowling alley, but that's it! The management is responsive to your concerns, the pool is clean, and the garbage is kept quite "clean". I continue to live here because it is so peaceful, clean, and quite. (for the record, I am not affiliated with the property management in any way)

The only thing I can say is this place is very noisy. People talk so loudly. I was awoken to some guy talking on his cell phone at 12:30 am in the courtyard area when he should have been quiet. With all the buildings built so close here in Alameda, things echo. Whatever happen to the rule of quiet after 10pm and before 9am?
