Nice Views, Quiet Surroundings - Too Pricey for the quality

I have lived here since middle of 2005. The view is great and the surrounding area is quiet and safe day or night. The building is solid concrete so there is absolutely no noise from other units through the walls or ceilings. The neighbors are all young to mid-aged professionals.
Manager somewhat responsive with minor repair requests but does not visibly add to the community. Instead she is slug in an office who is reactive more than pro-active.
The main problems with the buiding is:
- Side building doors do NOT always lock. Good thing the area is safe else there would definitely have been break-ins.
- Side evlevators are ready to give up any day now, every ride is potentially the last...
- Apartment is plain and not worth the high rent! Old appliance, plan counter tops, crappy carpet...This apartment would be worth half the price if not for the view or location. This is likely the most expensive apartment in Alameda.
- They will raise the rent on you before 1 year is up and say it is due to more maintenance...yeah right...
