Renter Beware!!

This is one of the worst renting experiences I have had.
Two big things to look out for here:
-Bring a level!!! 9 out of 10 of the apartments here are very slanted and they may not be able to show you the unit prior to moving in, but you should really insist. The floors can be lumpy and the counters can be slanted. (I had to switch units because of this and they had to take that unit off the market b/c of these problems, or so they told me...).
-If you have a car be careful. My car was vandalized twice during my stay here, even though it was parked in the gated garage. (Once they spray-painted the side of my car and my mirrors) The security here is a joke. The door to the building has been broken for quite some time and has yet to be fixed.
This place looks nice on the outside and some parts of it are nice, the weight room and the sauna, but it is not worth it to pay the high rent for all the problems the buildings here have.
The rental office staff are ok on the whole and especially nice when there are prospective tenants there.
A few more things to note:
The shower water tends to run hot and cold and then hot again. Every time you use the toilet it seems to clog. The pools are heated part of the year, but they are far from comfortably warm. When entering your apartment they give you a day or two notice, via note under the door. There is an automatic 95 dollar cleaning fee when you move out, no matter what. Don't get an apartment near the garage entrances, they are noisy and even worse when they drag the dumpsters out by metal chains. You can hear everything in this place. They don't keep internal records of crime or vandalism, they only keep them if you file a police report and give them a copy. In the winter watch out for ants. The counters in the apartment stain extremely easily and the carpet is still pilling after almost a year later. Oh and the complex fee (garbage, water etc.) is usually around 40 dollars a month for a one bedroom, as opposed to the 25 dollars they quote you in the rental office. Despite what they may tell you in the rental office, rents never go down here, they told me when I moved in that after my lease they would most likely lower my rent, needless to say it didn't happen. There are many times when there is no visitor parking and the clubhouse is often used for really loud music/parties that you can hear clear accross the complex and that seem to go on and on. And last but not least, every night of the week without exception, you have people blasting music from their cars down the road in the middle of the complex so loud that the walls shake. So if you do live here don't live facing Shorepoint Ct.
