Weighing out the good and bad

it's true that dealing with the office is a nightmare. Only Penny and Brenna are helpful at all and if you really want anything done, only deal with Brenna.
Too many of the people that live here don't give a crap about keeping the area nice or respecting their neighbors; they litter, don't clean up after themselves and act like they live in the ghetto. The minority that is loud and disrespectful really stand out against those that want a nice place to live.
There are so many marijuana smokers in my building, it's ridiculous. I don't care if they kept it private, but not when I can smell it in my own apartment or walking down a hallway.
A fellow tenant told me that they are raising their rent $400.. there is no way we will stay when our lease is up if they do. I'm sorry, but the discounted price they are being offered at are what they are worth. While the tile and cabinets are nice, they were put together cheaply and quick. The tiling is cracking, especially around the edges, and some of the cabinets don't line up correctly. The carpet is also relatively cheap and frays easily. It's not meant for the long haul.
Parking is really bad. My neighbor moved here in December and STILL doesn't have a parking space. They said they would give him one if he walks across the whole property to the other side, and suggested he purchase one of the new "pay for parking" spots they will be offering soon. It's $100 month for uncovered parking, but gee.. they wash your car once a month.
Management says the pool is green from people going in with street clothes. I call bull.... The pool is gross and hasn't been cleaned in awhile. They also sold us on a yearly heated pool, but it's not. They said there would be a hot tub soon after we signed our lease last August, but the office has no idea when there will be one.
So for me, it's like this: They accept pets, both cats and dogs. The landscaping is nice, it's close to work and for NOW, the rent is acceptable. There are LOTS of things I'm not happy about, but it's workable. If they raise the rent, it will be the factor that pushes us over the edge and we will NOT be renewing. Many people jump ship after their initial lease is over.
By the way, the office reads these reviews. I know because I mentioned them when I was looking to lease, and was told the claims others made were false.

Sounds like the same situation when it was the Harbor Island Apt. Complex. The majority of the people who lived there were not drug dealers or users; but the ones that were made it bad for everybody else. The parking situation was laughable. And that bit with giving out 3 day notices when the rent had not only been paid, but checks cashed, was just a little ridiculous.
There are other apartments and properties that are much cheaper and nicer.
