That's what this place was called when I lived there. Drug dealing, crack houses, and several attempted murders. Roach-ridden and the worst management in history. The buildings are all pretty now but from the reviews that I read it doesnt seem like anything has changed.

I am glad I moved out when I did before the "ethnic cleansing" took place whereby this management company moved all the Section 8 and SSI people out. This outfit is located in Texas and they came to Harbor Island one time when several of us complained about how horrible the conditions were.

I live there and I think this is unfair. First, they are not in Texas. Second, if I saw any bugs let alone roaches, I wouldn't live there. They are trying to improve that part of town, and occasionally, some of the ghetto gets back in.

If you read the post you responded to, you'd see the writer was referring to the company that was there prior to the current owners. I lived there for 14 years and was glad to get out of there. The management was non-responsive to requests for maintenance, they frequently gave people 3 day notices, even though their rent had been paid. Poor bookkeeping practices. The rents then and now are not in line with market rate rents in other Alameda apartment complexes. In other words, you can get a much better deal for less. I now live 2 blocks away in a duplex where the owner maintains the property and knows how to keep books. He owns other properties in Alameda and Oakland. The difference is simply being a responsible landlord and being a slumlord. Any body can slap a coat of paint up and not make repairs and properly maintain the building. I've heard complaints from quite a few people who live there now, and I've walked by the property when there was yelling and screaming going on. If you like the place, power to you. I'm just glad it's a past experience for me.

Thank you Crumcakes. If Anonymous likes it so much why is he/she anonymous. Probably one of the office staff! Occasionally some of the ghetto gets back in,,,,they never left!!!!!!
