I am getting out of this place without any penalties by harassing the manager until she relented. Which is only fair because the amount of times I have been lied to and inconvenienced by poor management is completely unacceptable. Everything everyone says is true about this place so I wont go into detail about how living here sucks. Just wanted to bring their 1 3/4 stars down a notch if at all possible. I think they are getting too much credit.

Congratulations. I lived there for 14 years when it was Harbor Island Apartment complex. It used to be nice, the the 15 Asset Management Group took over and let the place deteriorate into a hell hole. I've been following some of the posts on this thread and it sounds just like it was under the previous ownership, except that tenants now are paying 3 to 5 hundred dollars more per month. There are lots of decent places in Alameda where landlords care about their property. Good luck to you.

I ended my lease early too and had to pay one months rent as a penalty so that tells you how awful it really is there. But beware, they will try to keep as much of your deposit as they can, I was charged a cleaning fee (i left the place spotless), paint touch up fee, steam cleaning fee (i steam cleaned the carpets myself with rug doctor), and a laundry list of other stupid things. I lived there for 8 months and didn't even have anything hanging on the walls or even have that much furniture because right after I moved in I realized what a ---- box it was and knew I would be out as soon as my lease was up so I kept alot of boxes packed. What's so screwed up is that they will do the walk through with you and say everything is fine and then you get your deposit back and it's nothing and there's a huge list of -------- "wear and tear" penalties. Wear and tear for my long 8 month stay. They're reason was that I had dogs. My dogs are teeny tiny chihuahua's they are house trained, don't chew and have short hair. And besides, I thought I was paying $70 a month in pet rent for any wear and tear damages associated with housing a dog? I really hope people know about this website and read about Summer House before deciding to move in...but sadly I don't think people do see this until after, I know I didn't. This place is awful and I hope to see the whole company bankrupt because they are going to have some very bad karma coming they're way.
