Horrible Place To Live

One word describes this place: horrible. Slummer House management does not do anything. One tenant had a bird that they would just let sit out on the patio and it would squawk at all hours of the day. The walls are so thin that even with all the doors and windows closed I could still hear it! It's a good thing I didn't have to work graveyard or I would have really been pissed off! Any time I would call management and complain about the bird, they would say that they would take care of it, but nothing was ever done. I even sent an e-mail once and they responded that it was being taken care of, but of course it wasn't.

Many tenants abuse the parking. One tenant, who in no way looks handicapped, parks in the handicapped spot, then switches her cars in and out of the spot when she has to leave. I have seen her do this numerous times! Also, one of the girls that works in the office was seen parking in several spots that were not her own on several different occasions! Also, forget having anyone you know visit you because they will not have a place to park!

Everyone knows the code for the parking gate, so anyone can get in. I have also seen kids climbing over the fence at one point, and once they saw me, they started yelling something about how their grandmother was in trouble.

There was also a period of about a month while I was living there that the pool water was green. It was disgusting.

So many dog owners do not pick up after their dogs. I was one of the few that actually did. Not to mention the fact that I have seen people with pit bulls or pit bull mixes, which are not allowed. One of my neighbors had their dog attacked by one of these dogs.

Often times I would see the maintenance staff just sitting around. I even caught them sleeping in their cart several times!

The security does nothing. They stand in the barbecue pit and watch people taking their dogs out.

They overwater their grass to the point that there is always standing water in the grass, and they continue to water the grass even after that! Aren't we in a drought'

There were some broken tiles in the hallway of my floor, and their solution was to put a construction cone there for a month before they finally fixed it.

I'm glad I only signed a 7 month lease so I could get out of there as soon as possible. The only positive thing that came out of living there was that I met some people who felt the same way that I did about the place who I became friends with. Other than that, don't even think about living here.

I totally agree with relief and the one above. The main problem is that the City of Alameda, unfortunately, feels that this is the best way to concentrate minorities and low income people. When I lived at Harbor Island(BV's) the police were always over there and at one point even mentioned that this apartment complex was their job security. This was relayed to me when I was working with them in order to get the drug smoking bunch out of our laundry room. It's really a shame that their can't be better management. It's not a bad place to live, just poorly, poorly managed.

Yeah, except that now the apartments cost anywhere from 300 to 500 more per month. I can't believe they are still playing that game of cashing people's rent checks and then giving them 3 day notices. They did that to me once. When I filed a lawsuit against them, they quickly dropped their nonsense and gave me a free month's rent, along with some shaky apology and how it's hard to keep up with 615 units. Learn to keep records.
