I've lived her for about a year and a half and I'm happy to say that I will be moving in about 3 days. My experience with this place has been nothing but horrible. From the bad parking situation, to the noisy tenants, to the partially enforced facility hours, all the way through to the management.
To note, I was doing laundry one night and my blanket had not fully dried by the completion of the dryer cycle. I went to retrieve my blanket at 10:15 only to find the door locked as the hours are 8-10. I called to see if someone could come back an open the door so I could get my blanket, which you could hear spinning in the dryer from outside the door, but I was told there was nothing that could be done. I find this to be total bull since the person who locked the door couldn't have been more than 50 yards away. I guess they just wanted me to freeze that night. Now this might sound like a small complaint, but the door is arbitrarily locked as it has been unlocked for the past month 24-7.
The parking is 1 space/apartment (or at least that was my situation). Street parking is non-existent since there are about 8 other complexes on the neighboring streets.
The pet policy is a joke. There are breed and weight restrictions that go unchecked. I've seen pitbulls and various big dogs on a weekly basis.
I don't know why the complex is gated since there's always an entrance that's broken, and left wide open. I've seen people from neighboring complexes walk down the block and simply walk in as if they were residents, just to swim in the pool or loiter the premises.
Oh, and did I mention its adjacent to a high school'

I agree with the jakrisgre. What high school is next to Summerhouse? I've heard nothing but bad things about that place. Be glad that you are moving. Alameda has better places to offer.

As I have stated before in my responses to those like yours..be thankful you are moving. When I lived there it was called Harbor Island Apartments and every response I've seen mirrors the place when I lived there. It was supposed to be better, cleaner, better management after it became Summer House, but it's not and never will be until the City of Alameda forces the owners who are located in Texas to step up and get managers and enforcers that they have to pay more than minimum wage!
