Totally Unhappy at Summershouse

I have lived at Summerhouse for a year now and I'm trying to find a new place to live before my lease is up. I have lived with the worst sounding floor boards in the apartment above me and they wouldn't fix it even after the tennants moved out and new ones moved in. I am now living 2weeks with a broken heater. They have undercover cops there watching your every move. I am very unhappy living there and they are giving me bad references for my new apartment searches because I have been a few days late in my rent payments.
I have had problems with nasy back up in my bathtub and they keep having to come and temporarily fix it. They only notify you by posting annoying pieces of paper on your front doors.
I wish that they did allow certain breeds. I'm not offended of Pitbulls or any other type of dog if they are raised well, they have a bad rap.
Don't move in there!

The types of problems you are describing need to be reported to the health department. It is illegal to not have heat in a rental unit and plumbing problems also violate building codes. I suggest that you write or call the city and inform them about the problems. You can also withhold the rent until they correct the violations. You need to open what is called an "escrow" account at the bank and then inform them that the rent money has been deposited into that account and will be paid when they make the needed repairs. Here is a website put out by Sentinel Fair Housing. You need to contact the City and alert them to the problems so that the Building Inspectors can come out.

Well, when I lived there several years ago, the sewers used to back up then and you could see waste running along the curbs. They would periodically try to fix it and there were long periods of time where there was no water. This place has not changed and it doesnt seem that the City really cares, at least they didnt when 90% of the tenants were --------American!
They should have torn it all down and built something decent instead of making the places look pretty but are still not functional.
