I have never lived at Alicante but I came very close to actually living here. My boyfriend and I are moving to California and had no idea how much work went into relocating. We contacted Alicante in regards to a one bedroom apartment and at first the staff was very friendly but as time went on the staff became less friendly and extremely rude. Every time we called we got a different answer to our many questions. They kept getting annoyed every time we called with another question. I was told that a one bedroom was available but we needed to act fast. To put the apartment on hold they needed a deposit of $160 and they needed it ASAP because it was in such a desirable location and it would go fast. At first I was told that if I faxed a copy of the deposit(check) that would be sufficient enough to hold it. When I called to make sure they received the fax I was told that faxing a copy of the deposit was useless and wouldn't hold the apartment. So I had to turn right back around and fedex my deposit and application fees that day. Then I was told that they needed to receive the applications within 24 hours or the deposit would be void which is completely understandable. However we had to fax the applications 7 times because their fax machine wasn't working!! And to top it all off I was faxing this on a Friday from work and was told that they needed to receive the applications on that Friday or early Saturday morning no matter what! And it was my responsibility to locate a fax machine on Saturday morning so they could have the applications no later than Saturday! Apparently they couldn't wait till Monday when I would be at work and have access to a fax machine even though it was their responsiblity to have a working fax machine!! Finally we make it out to California to take a look at our future apartment that has this most desirable location, yet to our surprise wee see that the apartment is located in the out skirts of the property grounds. Making it very clear to us that Alicante wanted to get rid of this apartment very quickly. When I called to let them know we were looking at other apartments I was told that they had another apartment very similar but with a better location and cheaper rent!! Apparently they failed to mention this to us earlier. Needless to say we did not take the apartment and just a warning to others who are interested in living here and live out of state........ don't put any money down until you see the apartment. Chances are they have a unit they need to get rid of quick and will most likely be the one they will offer you!! If you can't make it out to see the place first spend the extra money in motels until you find something you like. Better safe than sorry...last thing you want is to be locked into a lease for 6 months or more!! California is filled with these apartment complexs and it won't be hard finding something you like:)
