Onsite Management - nice BEFORE you sign the lease - beware

Under new ownership since May, but management staff still needs training. --- was not aware that he could look up a resident phone number via computer nor that a hold deposit was required for every apartment. ---- (the manager) did not know about Sequoia's 30-day guarantee. When it was referenced, she happily chose to belittle me and instruct me not to tell her how to do her job. The staff prefers to leave numerous resident rental files unattended on their desks. It gives you something to read while you are waiting for them to come out of the back office. Parking is a bit of a nightmare because many residents like to use their assigned garage as a storage unit. Thus, they park their cars in the guest spots, so forget about having someone visit you on the weekend. When the gate was broken and a timeline was requested for its repair, the office staff happily stated the gate does no good anyway as people just follow other cars into the complex. The staff makes certain that you feel that you are there to serve their needs and that you are not needed at their complex to keep it in business. Oh, and I hope you like spiders....lots and lots and lots of spiders. The staff touts the weekly pest spraying, but does note that their pesticides will not kill spiders unless they are sprayed directly. One positive note - the maintenance staff. Only late one time, but they are very quick to respond and do a great job! I also recommend ----- & ---- in the office - otherwise don't waste your time unless you like being treated rudely. Lastly, make certain to thank --- every chance you get for his time - otherwise he will be certain to remind you that he is not there to serve your needs.

No ------- I don't believe that you are there to serve them. I know that they are there to serve you and within reason should being doing thier best to do that.I personally found your response to be very measured and accurate I feel as though you were slighted and are appropriately peturbed. I'm just suggesting that I have a little more information that, If you were aware of, you may be inclined to cut the manager a little more slack for the innapropriate comments. I realize it's not your job to make up for the shortcomings of others but if we all try and understand each other a little better through patience, understanding and communication It just makes life better for everyone That I can tell you for sure. I wish I was still there to help you buddy. I was the best at smoothing these things out even though my reputation within the staff was that of being a loose cannon with a hairtrigger temper. Again a misconception brought about by assumptions and a lack of genuine communication. I wish you luck.

I've been trying to make up with ---- as I have heard she is a good manager from several people. Just tough when some of her staff don't perform well, I try to resolve it, and I'm the one seen as being difficult. That is what is frustrating for me...too many companies forgetting they are in business today because of their customers! (or US Govt bailouts depending on the business). Sequoia Mgmt seems to not really care if you take your business elsewhere or if they have staff issues. But I guess I am here to serve them since I need their apartment so badly.
