I lived in my one bedroom for 5 years. I paid $1,420.00 month with no garage. Rents have come down so much in the last few months so I asked the leasing office if I could have my rent lowered to market rate. I had talked with neighbors who had two bedrooms and were paying what I paid and other one bedrooms in Aventine advertised on Craigslist are going for 2- 3 hundred less than I paid. I asked if I could sign a new lease, as my current lease wasn't up until October1. That way with a new lease they could lock me in as a tenet for another year. I was told no.They didn't care at all about my financial situation as a person. I was just a dollar sign to them. I had to move because my mom lost her job and I needed to move in with her to help with her rent. Aventine has the option of not charging me the one month extra rent to break my lease, but they said that while though they did not have to charge me the break lease fee, they were going to just because they could. I feel raped and totally taken advantage of. DON"T rent there. The new owners are TERRIBLE. I was a great tenet and those I dealt with in the office showed no compassion for my situation in these current economic times. My mom lives in the ALICANTE - They are AWESOME over here. They were happy to lower my mom's rent to match current market rate. And ALICANTE doesn't charge if you have to break a lease due to financial hardship.
