Bad Management - Wont give your Deposit back From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 12/23/2004 Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2004   I lived at their property for 5 years. And saw quite a bit of management change throughout the 5 years. Positives: If you live in the back row away from the main street, it is fairly quiet. The Maintainence staff are not top notch, but are very attentive and respond quickly. Negatives: -Their strategy is to get you in and increase your rent a lot at the end of every lease and hope you wont complain. You can bargain your rent increase. Even then, my rent went up anywhere between $60 to $120 every year. Current Management is very rude after you sign your lease. - I heard this from three other people, but didn't believe it until it finally happenned to me. They are very stingy when it comes to your deposit money. They always will find a way to keep your deposit and use the cheapest of tricks. They did not go for a walk-through at the end when I was present. They claimed they were busy and sent me a bill for not cleaning this, carpet that..etc. I had professional cleaning done at the end. They couldn't say it to my face, so sent me my review after 2 weeks, and I had no proof to support it. If they do this to you, ask for photographs. I also recommend you to take pictures as proof. They treated me so badly when I was moving out, that I was ready to go to the BBB. They made me wait for 2 hours just to get my keys - this was just plain arrogance on their part. Though I was paying the lease breaking fee and leaving the place (after staying for 5 yrs) - she says "You dont know that you are breaking a lease based on a legal document - we are doing you a big favour" - I was shocked that they try to scare people using "legal" terminology. I asked her to go over my document and show me where she was doing me a favour, and then she calmed down, and asked me to leave stating she was BUSY. They took my deposit money. I lived in 5 apartment complexes before this, and never had a single cent lost out of my deposit. They keep my deposit for no reason, after I stay there for 5 years!! I actually checked with the BBB, and found that Western National Management which manages Woodcanyon has a rating of "F" - the worst possible rating. (Best being "AAA"). I wouldn't recommend you going there, because of the horrible management.
