Where to begin. I moved in to The Village Apartments about two years ago. We lived in the other part closer to the Memorial Manor. The first thing that I really noticed is a spa that looked like it was being put in. My neighbors told me it has been like that for nearly 2 years. How right they were. Every day as I walked past it to the elevator it just sat there. They are now finally starting to work on it and put it in.

I have had my car broken into 3 times. My stereo stolen. The managers don't care and remind me that they are not responsible for damage to vehicles. They do it in a very condescending manner too. I wonder if they are responsible when maintenance drops a long pole on the top of my car when he is trying to unclog the sewage pipes and all this feces and other debris is dropping onto my car. This has become a common occurrence lately. They dismantle the sewage pipes and let the waste pool and pour all over the parking garage. Maybe thats why you aren't allowed to use the in sink garbage disposal.

The lighting of the grounds is in dire need of repair. Lately I have needed to carry a flashlight while I go outside when its dark. The underground parking lighting needs repair too. If the power goes out they have 3 security lights but it doesn't matter since the automatic gate wont function and there is no override for it.

Some of the other tenants here make a lot of noise and leave their trash out. The managers wont do anything about it but the night patrol might be able to. Just it will take a while.

I hope you like your cold showers. Expect the hot water to stop working about 5-10 times a month. When the hot water does work it takes a long time for it to get to your sink.

No gas here so forget about your gas stove and gas dryer and figure out how you will pay that high electric bill.

The grounds are not kept very well. They may blast them down with water every other month but debris and dirt will accumulate.

There is also mold everywhere. Along planters, along the buildings, it is everywhere. The neighbors across the way had to be relocated to another apartment because of a mold infestation in their apartment. Its not the first time its happened either. Now they are ripping out walls and parts of the planter and leaving debris all over the walkway.

When you talk to the managers about any of this, "We'll get someone right out."

Now this isn't all negative. There are some high points to living here. First is it is close to everything, including Disneyland. The rest of the city may be burning up but theres always a nice cool breeze and it doesn't get too warm here. The washer and dryer hookups on the patio are nice.

This person is insane! I have lived in the Village Apartments for nearly two years now and as I read this I wonder if we are living in the same universe as eachother. The spa that they talked about did sit empty for a LONG time but it is now completely new and working fine. My car has not as of yet been broken into, nor have I had the misfortune to have feces drop from plumbing pipes onto my car. I have never seen this but I know that the pipes running through the parking garage frequently leak on the cars. The management has so far been pretty good about getting the cars cleaned for us if we bring it to their attention. I cannot believe this person talking about bad lighting and loud neighbors!! I must live in a totally different area than they do. In my area, the lighting is adequate and the neighbors are nearly lethargic judging by the amount of noise they make. It is quiet here 90% of the time...including weekends. I have no idea what this person is talking about when they mention the gait not functioning when the power is out...the power has failed in this area of the city a couple of times in the two years that I have been here and both times, the gait automatically opened and remained that way until the power came back on. I have no knowledge of mold infestations but that can happen anywhere....this person is right...there are no gas appliances, so when the management tells you that they pay the gas (which they WILL tell you) you must realize that there is NO GAS...the electric bills though, are reasonable. I run my A/C every night and on weekends in the summer and my heater during nights and weekends in the winter months. My electric bill is usually around $120 for TWO months and this INCLUDES the water bill. This person obviously has issues that they did not go into here. I have nothing to gain by writing this..I am not affiliated in any way with these apartments, other than living in them that is...They are a little pricey but the full sized laundry hook-ups are worth it. Also have a couple (maybe more..big complex) clean, big laundry rooms if you don't have a washer/dryer. I just wanted to add my 2 cents....hope it helps to balance the insanity I just read.

I have to disagree with happyrenter133333. Noisy neighbors are a problem. In fact, had to call the police 2 times because rent-a-cops didn't do anything. Not only did my car get it's window broken and stereo stolen from the secure Garage, 5 License Plates were stolen from various cars. Plumbing is horrible, constantly breaking and water being turned off to "fix" the problem, which happens once or twice a month. Took 5 trips from maintenance staff to fix broken A/C. Staff misleads and talks down to you when you raise issues. Very unsympathetic and uncaring group here. STAY AWAY!

I agree with happyrenter133333! I can't believe this person lives in the same complex as me! I have lived here almost 2 years now and cannot be happier! I have never even had to consider carrying a flashnight at night...the light is fine! And yeah sometimes the pipes undergound drips a little bit...just don't park under a leaky pipe! At least we have gated underground parking here!!! I have always had more than enough hot water...it has never gone out on me, nor has the power. And yes there is electric stove and oven here...what apartment doesn't have electric appliances? My electric bill in the summer while running the air almost all the time, cooking, watching TV, and leaving my computer on most of the time is $120 MAX for 2 months. Since I have been here, the water has been turned off for plunmbing problems maybe 3 or 4 times which is not bad at all. Sometimes neighbors are loud, but it's an apartment. The management cannot control everyone at all times. If you don't like noisy neighbors, move into a house in the middle of nowhere far away from everyone. Everytime I have had a maintenance problem, it has been fixed within hours. I have been looking at other apartments all over orange county, and these are definitely the best for the price. All these problems mentioned above are going to be true to some extent with every apartment complex...welcome to renting an apartment. If you don't like it, move into a house. Otherwise, stop complaining.

i have to agree with sirrentsalot19999 the building is crappy. my car got leaked on i made them clean it. anonymous, there are time you don't have a choice but to park under a pipe, it may not be leaking when you leave but it ends up leaking when you return to your vehicle, thats what happened to my truck. Yes it is very noisy here I had to call the cops a few times on people that live around me. Yes I felt I needed a flashlight when I would leave at night because the lighting is very dim, especially after I've past drug deals going down in front of the building, watching those people that bought drugs go to our underground parking and do it, I called the police on them. yes apartments have electrical problems, but not ones that last for continuos months and the very exact same problem they supposedly fixed the first couple time they came, when i had maintenance problems they weren't fixed correctly. There is noise people can handle in the day but late at night like at 3 am thats just unnecessary noise, this is suppose to be a family oriented community so hearing swear words at 3 in the morning thats just not good. Hearing music blaring at until 5 am when someone finally calls the cops thats noisy. Maybe anonymous should live in a college dorm if they don't mind the noise. I agree with you again sirrentsalot1999 stay away. Oh yeah you can't even get a hold of the corporate office, when you ask management for the number they say they can't give it out, and thats what they have management for when they themselves never fix the the problem.
