My husbands company put us up in one of the furnished 2 bedroom units. The furniture/appliances were old, but clean and worked. The air conditioner was very noisy and would wake up our daughter in the middle of the night. The weekly cleaning service was okay - but they never came at the same time, took about 2 hours, and never moved anything (even the dining room chairs) to vacuum underneath. We have a dog and were told that because it was not 1 year, we had to pay an $800 deposit. Fine. After we had paid over $600, we got a letter stating that we overpaid our pet deposit and that we had a monthly pet rent credit of $140, but then they deposited one of our postdated pet rent cheques. NO COMMUNICATION!!!! We didn't really have any complaints until we moved out. We mistakenly left some of my daughters items behind in one of the bedrooms. We called the day after we moved out to let them know (after hours so we left a message) and then sent an email the next day. We never heard back for three days, so we called again. The girl said that she just got back from holidays and didn't know anything about it and that she would call back later in the day. She never did. We called for the third time two days later, and the same response - I will have to check and call you back. We called again later that day and said that we would be in on the weekend (a week after we moved out) to pick up the items and any mail that was there for us. When we got there to pick up the stuff, we were told 'I don't know anything about it, if you want to wait for 'some other girl' to come in (in three hours!) maybe she will know something about it.' It has now been almost three weeks since we moved out and we still have not had our items returned to us. We found that any communication was not returned, that the communication between the staff members was nonexistent, and that it took too long for any response at all. We still haven't gotten our deposit back, so we will see if/when that actually happens. All of this and I haven't even touched on the neighbourhood. Far away from everything (the closest grocery store is 15 minutes, WalMart 25 minutes). This apartment is in Oildale, not Bakersfield, and it is considered the worst area of the city. Needless to say, after our experience, my husbands company is never putting any other employees in this apartment. You get one covered parking spot, but it is so far away, and in that neighbourhood, we had to park on the street. We could hear the people downstairs TV and when they took a shower. The grounds are nice, but there are lots of flowers which means lot of bugs. We didn't feel safe due to the neighbourhood.
