We were told during our "walk-through" that the telephone jack in the kitchen functioned. We were also told there were two in the bedroom which worked. These people do the very BARE MINIMUM required by law and seem proud of it. Our big mistake - we moved in - only to find the telephone jack in the kitchen does NOT WORK... there is only one jack which actually works - out of THREE in the apartment.
Who wants to have to run from the far-end of the apartment clear to the other end in this day and age just to answer the telephone' We now have to use a FIFTY FOOT telephone line for the computer - which is in the living room! I spoke DIRECTLY with R.W. Zukin management about this - the Resident Manager very CLEARLY STATED that the telephone jack in the kitchen WORKED - he LIED. R.W. Zukin said they "might consider" reimbursing us....once WE pay for the repair of the telephone line!
I just found out it will cost $126.00 to repair!!!
To top this off, one of us will have to MISS A DAY OF WORK - to be there to meet the repairman! They only have appointments during the week, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon or 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. !
A HUGE hassle! Why don?t they want to make their tenants happy' Perhaps this is why they seem to lose so many' I will update this once we have the telephone jack situation taken care of and will let you know whether they actually reimburse us or not!
You may want to simply save yourselves the headache...don't move into this nightmarish place! I wanted to back out of the deal before we moved in and my 'roommate' convinced me not to - now I?m regretting it.
Incidentally, a new Manager husband/wife were supposed to start yesterday. So far we haven?t received any kind of notice from the MGMT Co. about this. I?m hoping things will improve (they could hardly get much worse!
