Quiet, nice and cozy with a good management staff, a pool and decent pricing. I've lived here for four years while preparing to buy a home. No complaints, really -- although you definitely want a lower-floor unit so the occasional heat wave doesn't stifle you on the top floors.
Yes, the old management group was better, but the new one is still pretty good comparatively speaking. I even switched apartments in the middle of my four years with no hassle; put a little effort (two hours is what I did) into cleaning, you get your full deposit back.
Apartments *are* small. Many times I wished my place was bigger, and I've had two of the "big" one-bedrooms here. If you want space, look elsewhere. But if you don't mind the small quarters, it's nice and cozy. My friends liked it when they came over. And the deer and natural beauty here is FANTASTIC. Yes, the canyon is a serious fire hazard, but we're all in an earthquake zone, so ... whatever. You have to get renter's insurance, and I'm sure the fire hazard is why. But it's cheap, so no big deal.
Also, there are GREAT trails right nearby for hiking, biking, etc. I loved those! Help me keep the pounds off from eating all the great food in the Carlmont Center nearby. Shopping is convenient, the laundry on-site was rarely ever busy when I needed to use it. Buildings are small enough, so no one is ever really in your way.
Neighbors keep to themselves and don't bother you. I never had any maintenance problems that weren't fixed immediately. Pool facilities are nicely kept, parking is plentiful, rent fluctuated a bit in four years ($1095 to $935 to $985 to $995, and I hear it's going up A LOT in 2006, but I'm moving out anyway ...), but overall, one of the best living experiences I have had living in three states (CA, MI, CO).

We have an apartment here and it's quiet, however the hallways are often smelly. There doesn't seem to be adequate ventilation in these areas and often you can smell cooking odors, and a sort of musty smell. They do repaint apartments before people move in which is nice. I'd like to see some window air conditioning units installed. The other day we came in and it was nearly 90 in our apartment. We had even left the window open for air. My candles were even melting. Fans are ok, but really don't circulate the air enough to cool it down and I don't want to leave them running all day for fear of potential overheating, or fire. Maybe the management will consider this.
