Our rent was raised three times within 6 months, around 30%, during the dotcom boom. Some other tenants who had been there for several years complained that their rent had been raised ridiculously and they could barely afford it, and this is an ugly old building with ugly fixtures inside the apartments. We now live in a nice apartment on the San Francisco waterfront, and tenants we have met here say that their rent was not raised during that time, even though there is no rent control for the building, and are still paying less than what we paid at Live Oaks.
