i know that rent in berkeley is high in demand and the evils that come with it... you just have to accept it. durant park apartments are old and a little ratty but functional. it?s one of the oldest out there. it?s also one of the only apt cmplxs out there that has no elevator. on top of that, the rooms are outrageously priced. i?m probably moving out soon since i cant afford it. they?re all singles (not studios) that comfortably room one person, cramped for two. one other thing... the manager is a real jerk. he?ll give you an attitude even if you?re trying to be his friend. he's just nice whenever he can get something from you. in the evaluation, i mentioned unsafe. it?s a gated community though there have been incidents. the apts are poorly designed. one example is that the door knob is 5 inches from the front screen where the window opens up. the apt shares 20 parking spots with surrounding buildings. waiting list for parking is a nightmare... and the manager is dishonest about it. also, i?ve had several bad ant problems, unrelated to food. they?re seasonally all over the place. for the eval, take all of the numbers to heart except the rent incr b/c i?m under rent control.
