DO NOT RENT THIS APARTMENT. I live at 1801, which shares the same management as 1797, and the manager, ----- -----, an ugly -------with disgusting ------she tries to cover with her thick makeup, is a total ----- who has never heard of customer service. She will give you the most nasty attitude despite the fact that you are paying for your tiny two-bedroom for $2585!!!! They don't care if you are comfortably settled in your apartment, and will exploit you if you are a student. AVOID.
Moreover, the apartment is not safe. For the past few months I've been here, already two apartments have been burglarized. They have no one to clean and maintain the dumpster, so the city has issued a warning to the entire apartment. Also, THERE IS NO HOT SHOWER. The hottest the shower gets is 25 degrees, which is freezing during the winter. THEY WILL NOT FIX IT FOR YOU.
This place is new, but it's already breaking apart. The elevator frequently stops working for days in a roll, and there is no cleaning crew to vacuum the hall ways, so the carpets are disgusting. The whole building is unsustainable and the only reason it was built was to exploit the lack of student housing in Berkeley.

This is a completely false review. Do not trust this person. I would say that this is probably one of the best places to live in Berkeley. The only negative about it is the price, which could be a little lower. However, I had a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom place with 5 guys and I only paid like $700 so it was amazing. It is definitely safe. Although there has been some construction, it is quiet most of the time and has great sunlight.

No, I think this review is spot on. I know the old manager the person was talking about and I think she was fine. She was 1000X better than the new management which is rude, incompetent, and extremely shady.

Anonymous person who left the message on 5/18 - you are either the management or you are completely unaware of what has been going on at this apartment. Perhaps you should talk to your FIVE roommates.
