Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
I am actually living in this place but definitely am not planning to staying any longer than I have to. I moved in here in May 2001. I lived in a decent size one bedroom apartment but had to pay a killer monthly rent of 1475 per month. It was actually worth it because my apartment was clean and surprisingly very quiet. I felt pretty secure and other tenants are very friendly and most of them are professionals. BUT THAT WAS THEN. They changed the apartment manager in March 2002. The new manager convinved me to extend my lease for another year at a 2 bedroom instead. This rent would only be 1800 and that comes with 2 parking spaces. I was so happy because that is a EXCELLENT deal in Berkeley. The apartment itself is very nice. My apartment had 2 bedroom and 2 bath. One of which is a master bedroom with bathroom inside the room.
So I was really happy about it and thinking that I was very happy. Boy was I WRONG. The old manager only rented this place to professionals and therefore the other tenants were very considerate and quiet. When this NEW manager came in, as irresponsible as she is, this place is going down. she rented most of the units to LOUD, and INCONSIDERATE tenants. People above me would blast their music until 3 in the morning. When they walk around, it sounds like they are running. My room feels like the epic center of an earthquake constantly. On top of that, the ongoing traffic coming from University Ave drives me insane. (My apartment now faces the street) This place had NO sound barrier/walls to keep it quiet. I would agree with the other review that this place is definitely unbearable to live in. I am actually breaking my lease to leave myself. So, don't move in here.
Oh, by the mail YES I also encountered the problem with mail. When I first moved in, I did not get any mails for 2 months!!!!! That was REDICULOUS. Then all of a sudden, all of the mail(dated 2 months ago) just mysteriously cramped into the box one day' NOW HOW DID THAT HAPPEN'
Oh and, BEWARE OF THE ANTS!!!! THEY WILL EAT EVERYTHING AWAY
