Pros and Cons of Raintree

I lived in Raintree for about ten years. Overall, I think it was a great place to live. Apartments are only as good as your neighbors so if you have bad neighbors you are out of luck even in the best apartments. All my comments relate to the junior one bedroom I was in. These are really studios with a curtain to separate the bedroom from the rest of the living area. They are around 500 square feet.

Pros

Brea is great town. For a huge complex it is very quiet, even on weekend nights. Of course, there always seems to be one loud apartment per couple of buildings. The grounds are very nice with lots of tree and greenery. I think the staff was pretty good and responsive while I was there. The maintenance staff seems pretty good as well. The Jr. 1 bedrooms are nice in that no one is above or below you (carriage style). There are garages below them but they can be noisy. They have a very nice private balcony. There is plenty of storage space.

Cons

The sleeping areas are right next to your neighbors and you can hear them on the other side of the wall. If they are quiet neighbors, no problem. If they are partiers, have kids, or slam doors - problem. I had about three different neighbors in 18 months before I decided to move. They made as much noise as they wanted for 6 months then moved out. Repeat two more times. The sleeping area is very close to your neighbor's door as well. Again, if you have a neighbor that slams the door every time they leave - problem. Also, they give a low lease rate to get tenant's to move in then raise it, I guess most places do this. Even the renewal lease rates were never as low as the rates for new tenants.

I received zero dollars back from my deposit even though I was told I would not be charged anything since I lived there for ten years. I must have saved them so much money in cleaning costs, painting and replacing the carpets, yet they still took my entire deposit! Finally, there is no place to recycle anything.
