Don't Move Here

Tamarack Gardens is not what it appears to be or what the office staff tries to tell you it is.
The worst part of living here is the noise. Everytime your neighbor runs the shower, sink, garbage disposal, or dishwasher, you can hear it. The insulation is extremely poor.
The running water is the loudest. Just stand outside the apts while the water is running; now imagine it ten times worse on the inside. That is no exaggeration. Tamarack is one of the few apt complexes in Brea that pay for your water, but in the end, you're the one who will pay for it dearly with your poor ears and frayed nerves.
Don't bother complaining about your neighbors who play their music too loud or let their kids stomp on the ceiling. The office feels that as long as they can't hear it from outside, then it's ok for you to suffer because you're the only one who is unfortunate enough to share a wall with inconsiderate people. The office tells you to avoid confronting your neighbor and they will take care of the problem, but when you complain to them, they do nothing.
A previous reviewer nicknamed this place Quantanimo Bay and I understand why. You need a permit to park, you need a permit to have a pet. There are security cameras everywhere, but they have been useless in catching car vandals and laundry thieves. The gated entries are a joke, as the gates are often left open or stuck open. Any one off the street can enter the property on foot through walkways between the apts. After a while, you'll also get sick of seeing the maintenance guys drive around in their golf carts like this place is so huge. It's not huge, they're just lazy.
Pets are allowed, but the pet deposit is $300 and don't expect to get it back. When you move out, they actually inspect your carpet with a black light to check for pet stains. Even if you steam cleaned the carpet and it appears immaculate to the naked eye, you can kiss your pet deposit goodbye. It's understandable that carpets need to be changed, but using a black light is just one sign of how extremely uptight and anal they are here.
The office staff is useless. Sherry, the office manager, pretends to listen but doesn't act on anything. If she does anything good, its ultimately for her own benefit because she happens to live here. Linda basically does what Sherry tells her. Uyen, the short chunky one, is the default staff who is available when no one with any power is around. She is probably the one recruited to monitor this website and post fake perfect "5" reviews to counteract the truthful reviews. The only thing the office staff really does around here is collect the rent and their paycheck.
Tamarack Gardens appears ideal, but it truly is not. Do yourself a favor and run in the opposite direction.
