I am a current tenant at The Madrid Apartments, but my family and I are happily moving out very soon. It would take a day's worth of writing to fully express the negative experience we have endured during our two-year tenancy here. The fact is, I don't even know where to begin shedding light for potential tenants, so I'm going to try to just hit on some of the major issues.

First of all, the manager for this complex is UNBELIEVABLY UNPROFESSIONAL. {Sidebar: There is no "office" here. The manager "runs" the complex from her apartment and can seldom be found when needed} She sits up on her balcony overlooking virtually the entire complex and watches and listens to everything that is said and done within the complex. I know on the surface, this sounds like a good thing, but trust me, it IS NOT. If this woman doesn't like what you may be saying or doing, whether it is against her "rules" or not, she will be all over you like white on rice. I have never seen a woman so delusional and controlling. It isn't uncommon for her to beat on your door and tell you to quit saying or doing this or that IN YOUR OWN APARTMENT. She will jump your ass about yelling at your kids, and how you discipline them; all the while screaming and cussing at her own children.

Further, she has no trouble putting you on blast in the common areas where the entire complex can hear your business. Which really doesn't matter, when you consider that she tells your business all over the complex anyway!

Moreover, she spends and inordinate amount of time, when she is here, which is SELDOM, screaming and yelling at everyone else's kids. I have heard her threaten the kids with ---- like, "You better behave or I'm gonna make you move and then your parents are going to be really mad at you because you got your family kicked out. . ."

Oh and please believe that what she doesn't hear or see herself, her trusted resident snitch will bring to her, twisted and embellished. This man will stand in hallways and peep in windows, his ear always bent to eavesdrop, even on phone conversations that you may be having INSIDE your apartment. I have caught him on MANY occasions standing outside my BEDROOM window; kitchen window; bathroom window; and even outside my screen door, trying to look in and listening to everything going on inside. Four families have been asked to leave behind this man's B.S.

What's more, three apartments have been filled with HER FAMILY, besides the one she is staying in and it has come to my attention that MY apartment is going to be taken over by yet more of her family members!

Now you must understand that she and her family are Bible thumping hypocrites who will drive you INSANE with their preaching. The manager's mealy-mouthed husband took every opportunity the two years I have lived here to tell me that I am going to hell unless I go to Church -- THEIR church! I don't know about ya'll, but when I rent an apartment, I don't expect it to be akin to a coven or some sort of prison. You can never understand how bad these ppl are with ---- unless you've experienced it.

Besides all that, the whole dynamics of the complex has been changed to suit what she and her family want. For example, they didn't like the tenant's BBQ's sitting out, so we were instructed to either "Put them away or throw them away." The bike racks, which have sat in a safe location within the common area for as long as I've been a tenant and many years before that, as I understand it, were moved into the parking lot where the bikes are now being vandalized or stolen. Why' Because her family didn't want them there!

As for her so-called "rules," trust me they change with her moods and are seldom put in writing and it's difficult, to say the least, to follow rules you aren't even aware exist. Moreover, she enforces said rules only sporadically and only with certain ppl.

It's also important to know that she, her family, and her snitch are extremely racist. I have heard her snitch using the words "------" and "-------" on more than one occasion. He and his wife have, in fact, called me "------" several times to my face and in front of the manager with absolutely no repercussions.

You also should know that unless you specifically request it, you WILL NOT receive copies of anything you sign and even then, it could take weeks to get those copies. It took me two weeks of daily complaining to receive copies of the paperwork I signed when I moved in here. Anything could have been done to those papers before they were given to me.

In fact, the owners and the manager are claiming that my deposit is $100 less than what I paid upon move-in. Had I not kept insisting on receiving a copy of the paperwork, they would most likely only return the amount they claim to have received. Assuming, of course, that they return any of it. Hopefully my tenacity with regards to the paperwork will pay off as I have it in writing in my files the true deposit amount I put down.

If you are a single woman, you need to know that the owners, brothers who live in Laguna Nigel, are womanizers and racists who display absolutely NO semblance of respect for women at all. And it doesn't matter who you are, they won't even stop to have a conversation with you, no matter what the topic. You have to literally run around behind them to talk to them, and they WILL NOT make eye contact with you at any time. In my opinion, that behavior speaks volumes.

Oh and besides the fact that more and more apartments are being filled with her family, you should know that more and more of the apartments she rents to non-family are being filled with obvious meth users, who are up and running around the complex making noise and the like all night long. Some users are so painfully obvious that it makes you wonder what planet the manager is from to rent to them with all the children here. Some are covered in "speed bumps" and bruises and will stare you down with wide, glassy eyes.

Moreover, I have seen the dumpsters filled with tubing and glass and empty boxes of ephedrine. There are times when the smell of meth absolutely permeates the air around here and forces us to close our apartment up as tight as we can to avoid the smell and harmful effects. The smell is so strong, in fact, that the possibilty of smoking the drug is overshadowed by the possibility that someone in the complex is cooking.

The manager admits that she "used" to use but is now clean. But in light of these events and discoveries, I am doubtful of her claim.

Trust me, I have not even begun to touch the surface of what goes on inside this complex. It's like living in a prison/coven/meth house. The manager talks out both sides of her mouth and will lure you in here with her niceties and fake ass pleasantries and once you're in, she'll beat you down with a quickness and have you kicked out with her B.S., if there is so much as one thing she finds she doesn't like about you. This woman gives new meaning to the phrase, "two-faced."

Please keep your eyes, ears, and mind open if you consider renting here and do not let yourself be fooled by what you see on the surface. Unless, you thrive on chaos, are a meth user, or enjoy being around meth users, and have no problem with ppl being all up in your business and telling you how to run your life, AND sharing your business with everyone else, keep looking. You DO NOT wanna be here.
