So there was a review submitted in '05 by another resident about the murder of another fellow resident, Sharon Santos. She was found in the trunk of her car in Chinatown, raped and murdered, in 2004. At the time, the person of interest was the maintenance worker for Scott Villa Apartments, Eriberto Rodriguez. The mother sued the owners of the Scott Villa apartments - Scott Villa Apartments, L.P. and Francis Property Management Inc. , for hiring a maintenance man who was a convicted felon and registered sex offender. According to the Burbank Leader, the lawyers for the apartment complex owners during the trial maintained that a criminal background check would have been a paperwork nightmare - here's a green light for every registered sex offender in town to go find a job that allows them access to vulnerable women and children since the owners couldn't be bothered with a criminal background check. A $12 million judgement was found in favor of the murdered victim's mother on Jan 18 , 2008. For those of you thinking of moving to Scott Villas - since the property owneres were negligent in hiring their last registered sex offender as a maintenance worker, who happened to rape and kill one of the tenants- how do you know they've been diligent about background checks on their other staff'

I used to work for Francis Property Management and, from first hand experience, I can say that in my opinion they lack business integrity on several levels (with their staff and with their tenants) and do cut corners to save money while maintaining an outward appearance of being a top-of-the-line company with a nice paint-job over the rust of their business reputation. I've always wondered when a huge kharmic-boomerang would hit them between their beady, close-set eyes. It's terribly sad that it came at this kind of human cost - poor Sharon Santos and her family didn't deserve this.
