Yo!

Do not live here.

I lived here for three years. During this time, there were so many problems that I feel compelled to try and warn other people before they end up living here and making the same mistake I did.

The Management was a nightmare. Initially, one of the main reasons I decided to live here was because the office staff was so friendly and inviting. However, the office staff at Town Center Apartments seems to change every few months. Over three years, there were at least 5 different managers - each of which always started from scratch. By the time anyone in Management seemed to finally get a handle on the issues surrounding the property, they would suddenly be replaced by someone new and the whole cycle would repeat.

Parking is a joke. Clearly, the garage was designed for two cars per space, as illustrated by the number of cement curbs in each parking alcove. However, in what must have simply been an attempt to get more parking spaces in, three sets of lines are painted for each alcove. The end result is that only compact cars can park comfortably in the Town Center garage - however, Los Angeles is a city of SUVs and so cars are squeezed into the garage like sardines.

Noise is a serious problem. For over two of the three years that I lived there, construction was occuring throughout the complex. At all hours of the day. At all days of the week. The noise was ridiculous and not at all condusive to a feeling of "home" or "rest." Lots of jackhammers. Lots of hammering. Lots of sawing. The noise pollution (among other issues) prompted the creation of a tennants group. Rather than realize that the management had a problem on their hands if their tennants were so unhappy, they simply threatened eviction to those tennants who were moved enough to complain and the tennant group evaporated. The problems, however, did not.

Clearly, lots of money has been poured into trying to make the Town Center Apartments aethetically appealing. However, the fact that construction was ongoing for over two years meant that the slow improvements were constantly marred by the litter of building materials that covered the grounds constantly. Many times, this included power tools such as drills or saws plugged in and unattended while children were nearby. Also common were caustic and toxic chemicals.

On top of this, rent was increased so dramatically that it prompted a number of tennants to call Fair Housing. Unfortunately for the tennants, we learned that the 40% rent increase we endured was not illeagal, though most rent increases in Burbank for the same time period were roughly 3% (source: http://www.realfacts.com/4212.html).

Unman increases in rent, unsafe and unhealthy construction, a management staff that cares about prospective tennants immensely - yet virtually ignores (or threatens) its actual tennants for having concerns about where they live, all of these reasons have led me to write this review. I feel its imperitive that other people learn the lesson I did before its too late and they sign a lease. Do not rent from Town Center Apartments.
