All one needs to do to assess the quality of this building is to read these reviews... of course, excluding the one written by the manager (A Great Place to Live!). This is quite simply the most dehumanizing, demoralizing, depressing, and poisonous environment to live.
Recently, I considered applying to work for RW Selby, the building's top management, simply so I could take the manager training course. I want to learn all the tricks these people are taught. Their universal tendency towards pathological lying cannot be coincidence. They must be taught to lie to everyone and, most importantly, make sure every tenant feels their problem is being experienced soley on their own. I'll take the latest example... it's only the latest, not the most extreme but it illustrates the point rather well.
Two nights ago the building, for reasons nobody understands, shut the hot water off in the building. I didn't learn this until I had stood outside my shower for 4 minutes waiting for it to heat up before jumping in. I called management and was given the advice "maybe you should let it run for a while, we're not aware of any problem." Within a minute of that conversation, my roomate walked downstairs to tell them in person of the outage. When she walked into the office, the manager was on another call with yet another neighbor addressing the issue. The manager hung up and heard from my roomate about the water situation. "Really!'!' We haven't heard about that." He seem shocked that our apartment didn't have hot water.
This is how they behave. They disarm tenants' legitimate needs through marginalization. Divide and conquer.
Our lease is coming up soon and we're moving. We've been here for years... waiting for it to get better. It's getting worse.
