It's about revenues, margins, and bottom-feeders

I've lived about 0.5 miles from Northpark for the last five years and have known TWO people who have lived there. The current one just had his car broken into for the SECOND time and has also had his registration sticker stolen from his license plate. They primarily market this complex at the Just Barely Surviving Bottom Feeder crowd. Low move-in deposit costs, short leases, continuous rent increases, lots of turnover. The most recent FORMER "management team" blew off the fire alarm maintenance and one of the buildings was burned out as a result. After that, much of the parking lot space has been occupied by construction rehab equipment. They're also face-lifting the complex in general and jacking the rents of course. I'm REALLY glad I did NOT choose this complex. Oh yes, if you visit Northpark, be sure to walk around the parking lots. You'll notice a) lots of "bottom-feeder owner" cars (the kind with more than one temp spare tire on them) and b) that a noticeable number of the parking spaces near Rollins Rd. and the Broadway/101 interchange have been rented out to non-tenant businesses. The garages are COMPLETELY open-access and insecure. It might be interesting to check with Burlingame PD to determine the number of car break-in incidents. Finally, Northpark is directly across from the Burlingame/Broadway CalTrain station. Despite the noise as they pass, commuter trains no longer service that station on weekdays. You do get to enjoy the 7:00 PM heavy freight as it goes by every night though. :)
