Wow. I don't think I have ever lived in an apartment complex that's as poorly managed as this one.
Treating tenants like crap and having a mega-attitude is a sport, and is what the employees at Skyline Terrace do best.
A lot of boasting at how "high-end" they are, yet the exact things that make a place high-end are seriously lacking:
Let's start with maintenance calls. Arni (maintenance manager) is super cool, but actually getting him to come fix something in your apartment' Well, you'd have to go through the dragons at the office first. It usually takes a week for them to even pass on the message, and then only when you call again to remind them. At which point you get a huff and a puff. But when they're showing you the apartments:"Oh absolutely, we have a 24-hr turn-around on maintenance." Sure...
How about having a parking lot that is well lit' Yes, there is plenty of parking, but if I get home after dark I'd rather park my car on the street and walk to my building, than parking it in the parking lot behind my building, where there's poor or no lighting and overgrown shrubs.
Safety is not quite up there on their priority list either. Doors to buildings are propped or locks taped off constantly, even though complaints are made to management about it.
Construction! I feel bad for those people who have a "pool" view. The pool has been dug up, and all these people have to look at is a huge mound of dirt. Paired with the construction sounds early in the morning for MONTHS now, drilling, workers yelling and laughing loudly, again, EARLY in the morning, what a great place to call home.
Plus, because of all the upgrades, they are ripping up stuff left and right, exposing asbestos (but supposedly it's done by professionals who know what they're doing, hm). There were several mornings where I could barely get out of my apartment because of construction in the hallways. And then the paint fumes, whewww!
The sorry excuse for the "gym". They don't even show it to you when showing you the complex, that's how sad it is. If there are two people in the "gym" it's a crowd. There are 4 workout machines in there, of which 2 are broken. Pathetic.
Ceiling fans' Uhm, hello! You don't have central air, how about some ceiling fans' Apartments that call themselves "luxury" have those, standard. Talking about central air, which brings me to the utilities: You will be paying up the ying-yang for utilities. They have these old, super inefficient gas heaters, plus they use a Ratio Utility Billing System, so you never pay for what you actually use. Rather, you're paying based on what the complex' usage is. You will have killer gas, water, sewer, trash, PLUS electricity bills, which total almost $300 for a 1 bedroom apartment with only two people. Imagine if you were to rent a 2 bedroom, or god-forbid a 3.
The laundry rooms, ayayaaaay! Are you kidding me' They are DIRTY, use QUARTERS (uhm, a "luxury" complex would've had card-operated machines), and the machines are OLD. The washing machines don't wash well, and drying' Oh, wait, is that what the dryers are for' Surely haven't noticed it. But guess what' The price was upped a quarter for the drying machines a couple of weeks ago.
Yes, they have beautiful views. So what' You're going to be too pissed most of the time to enjoy that view anyways. Move elsewhere. I, for one, cannot WAIT until my lease is up.
