I certainly agree with most of the previous reviews.

Apartments are basic, at luxury prices. I'd estimate the rent to be about $2 per square foot (the square footage listed by Archstone is not accurate, I've measured our apt several times). The kitchen is tiny, has no pantry, and no room for a trash can. Every other time we open a drawer, it breaks.

For the most part, neighbors are very courteous and respectful of each other.

The maintenance staff is great, and very friendly. The workers that are contracted out, however, never fix anything correctly the first time. This was the case with the painters, plumbers, and electricians.

Living near AE Wright is a pain during the school year. Every afternoon, parents descend on the neighborhood, blocking the streets with oversized SUVs, making illegal u-turns everywhere, and using the complex as their own private pick up and drop-off area for their kids.

And the kids! Lately the neighborhood is crawling with unsupervised children, mostly young teens and preteens, with nothing better to do than to stand around on the corners and commit light vandalism. On no less than a half dozen different occasions I've seen kids crawling in or on top of the dumpsters and on top the carports. Hey, I'll be the first to admit that Calabasas is BORING, but come on!

It used to be pretty quiet around here in spite of the total lack of insulation in the walls. There isn't a single person under the age of 25 living in my building, and yet every afternoon we have to put up with kids skateboarding in and around our stairwells and entryways. Random children run around screaming or beating each other directly outside my window and those of my neighbors. The complex isn't family friendly' I'd say the rest of us have been more than tolerant of "families."

Apparently the management has changed the pet policy, or they are no longer enforcing it. I don't mind people furtively walking their dogs at midnight, since their dogs behave much better than a lot of the people living here.

There are a few people in the office who don't seem very friendly, since they've never provided any customer service, and others who are very helpful. We'll see what type of company Archstone is when we move out.

Overall, this place is a typical apartment, but I don't see how the cost can be justified. The one bedroom is fine for a single person, but entirely too small for a couple since there is little storage space.
