It's nice to see that there has not been a complaint about this property in almost a year. Even though they are showing an 18% approval rating as of today, it's a sign that things have changed in the last 12 months. Kudos to the new Manager, office staff and service team. I'm looking forward to another year at Archstone.

I think they went one step too far with the parking thing. I do sort of like the idea of being assigned a car port space, but having to register guests is just outrageous. Other places I have lived assign car port spaces and leave the uncovered ones as first come first serve for guests. Inconvenient to register guests. I think it will get old.

Yeah - Solved. HAHAHAHAHHA. Look, they got a lot of flack for raising rents. So, instead of raising rents, they are charging people $40/per space per month. As the previous anonymous poster mentioned, there are 4 spaces for every apartment. Nearly 20% of the place is vacant, so there are even more spots. NOW, people park all along the streets to avoid the rent increase. Skateboarders dart out from between the parked cars making this place completely unsafe for them. Face it: Archstone is using this property as a tax write off until they can turn it over. They are actively looking for investors to take it over. This complex is apartment flipping 101.

So, you were the one person complaining. I agree with all the three responses prior to mine. This complex was once a very nice place that allowed open parking (4 per apartment!!!), plants and decor on patios, and no dogs. The noise was ok, give or take a few kids and some college students. The Archstone management is terrible. They are looking for any reason to make this place as painful as possible, to push those of us who have lived here longer than four years out! It is very sad.

i agree that the new assigned parking is ridiculous. that's one of the reasons i moved out a few months back. that and the $300/month rent increase. I'm wondering how they can justify this increase, since anyone who walks around the complex can tell that a lot of apartments are vacant. so its obviuos that current tenants are making up for the loss from the vacancies. another thing that current tenants are subsidizing is the low income tenants. archstone has a lot of them. i never felt good that i was paying a few hundred dollars a month more than my neighbor who had the same exact apartment i did, but was low income. also, with regard to the parking: it really is a safety hazzard at this point. most people are parking on the streets to avoid the fee, while the parking lots are empty! and there are kids who play outside, so its just dangerous now. what if a kid darts out into the street from between the cars? and, IMHO, there was never a parking problem to begin with. that's a load of garbage. i lived there for years and was always able to park 10 feet from my front door.

To everyone...Parking was always great for years here until they decided hmmm... we should charge people for parking and then say there was a problem before....there was NEVER a problem the greedy asses just want more of your money!

2blove - Where did you move to? I'm looking for a place in Calabasas and Archstone and Malibu Canyon Apartments sound really horrible. Any recommendations?

I love how everyone knows their math. If you go to the last spot on the property, it is space number 900. There are 600 units on the property. 4 spots per apartment would mean that there would be 2400 spots. So all you donkeys who yap yap yap about having to pay $40 for an extra covered space, go park on the street or in an uncovered spot where it's free. And if you yap about living in a space that you hate, them move. It's a lease, you can leave anytime you want. It's not like a house where you have to find someone to buy it from you. LOL.
