We moved here because we lived at another AIMCO property, so we wanted to take advantage of their relocation program to get closer to work.
We started out being promised one apartment, then that unit was renewed by another leasing agent, and our agent just happened to forget to tell us about it, after we'd already given notice out our previous place.
While they did find us a new unit, it was located right next to the main pool, and is much noisier than expected due to the extremely loud and uncontrolled kids in the pool. In addition, we were promised a parking space directly under the unit, but the new unit had it's parking space turned into a workshop (which is also very noisy, despite the agent's promise to the contrary) and were assigned a parking space that was at the end of 4 buildings away, with a second carport spot that wasn't even under a covering. We finally complained loud enough, with threats to complain to AIMCO and break the lease if not resolved, so they got us a space in the middle of the next building over, but it's still not what we were promised.
The place is EXTREMELY NOISY!!! The Managers make no attempt to control the kids' skateboarding on the property, despite the posted rules against it and the tenants' agreements to the contrary. Also, they do not enforce the closing hours on the pool, so rowdy college students and disrespectful residents often stay in the pool well after 10pm making noise and causing a ruckus.
Maintenance support has been spotty at best. We had to call back three times to get one repair done, with repeated promises that it would be taken care of "today". Also, when we moved in we complained about extremely poor water pressure in the bathtub in the master bedroom, and were told that it was "just that way" here. Two months after moving in, the plumbing started leaking and showering water all over the bathroom, and maintenance did show up quickly to repair it - turned out the faucet was broken and blocking the water, but the maintenance MANANGER was the one who told us "no problem" on move-in.
The architecture of the place is poor. Air conditioning ducts/outlets are in really bad positions and don't help keep the place cool very well, especially on a second floor unit with vaulted ceilings. Cable outlets are in totally useless positions that require ugly wires be routed down baseboards and over door frames to be used. Electrical outlets are poorly placed, and switch controlled outlets are located right next to the switches, making them practically useless.
Also, while the place advertises a fully-equipped gym and indoor racketball court, they don't open up the central office building until 9am, making them completely useless to someone who wants to work out in the morning before work. If the could change any one thing, it would be to open the central building earlier, at about 6am, to allow for early morning exercisers even if the leasing office itself doesn't open until 9.
On a purely personal gripe, as someone who doesn't always HAVE to be up early, it's very irritating to have grounds maintenance crews out almost every single day at 7am running leave blowers and power tools. Surely they have something they can do that early in the morning that doesn't involve noisy motor-powered equipment'
On a good note - we did get a $20 a month deduction on our rent, just by paying via automated EFT transfers. Since we hate writing checks anyway, that is a good thing. On the flip side, because of the "apportioned" method of calculating water, sewer and garbage bills, we pay much more than what we use, especially consiering the daily sprinklers that regularly leave a river of runoff down the sidewalks every night because they haven't adjusted the timing on them correctly, or fixed broken sprinklers that just waste water.
