I admit that I am a former employee of MCA. I worked there in 2004 after AIMCO took over. I left to spend time with my family and raise a child. If you think I am biased so be it but here the other side. Malibu Canyon is a very nice place to live on a whole. When living in a multifamily community there will be problems from time to time and traffic and management does what they can but it is hard to solve every problem in 24 hours while being fair to everyone and following California Law. I know that the community has been undergoing a redevelopment but how can you expect update and state of the art amenities if the community does not do construction to update it. Coming from both sides of the fence I know how terrible management can seem but understand from management side you can do your best and still not be able to please everyone because you must treat everyone equally. I know I will likely get blasted for this response but until you have worked in property management you don't understand how much flack you take for simply doing the job by the law. If you feel the need to blast me go ahead but I have said my peace. I would love to live and work there now. I have seen the pictures of the new fitness center and the other pools that have been completed and they are beautiful I with where I lived now they cared enough to spend the money to redo the community as nicely.

I moved in half a year before AIMCO took over so what ever this appreciative former employee has to say has no meaning what so ever, since all the mess, rudeness, the price hikes, and the noise began when AIMCO took over. This place used to not be as pretty as it is now, but it was a joy living here, and we could easily talk to management regarding any problems and we were able to get help. Even the repairs where done timely, within 24hr of us requesting repair.
I used to talk to the office members often and even knew them by name and had never had a bad experience until the office was fully taken over by AIMCO. Renovation beautifies, but at what cost?
No one cares how nice the new gym looks when they cannot afford to live here. And let me assure you that everyone I spoke to during the building surge and even until now has complained that no one asked them if they wanted them. When the rent goes up by every lease, do you care how many trees the wonderful people of AIMCO have planted? or how big the pool is?
No ONE cares how big the management office is or how pretty it is when every tenant is treated like scum, and when everything you say, or ask for is flatly ignored. EVERYTHING. I'd rather they spend the money on training their staff to treat their tenants with respect. I'm not the only person saying this, I've lost many neighbors, over the years, if not all because they either could not pay the rent hike or were at war with the office.
