My family and I have been living here since the start of the year and all has been well.
The staff has been wonderful, I had some issues with another tenant regarding noise and they were able to resolve those issues by being a good third party "negotiator". The maintenance guys are friendly and knowledgeable about their jobs. My only maintenance concerns so far has been a faulty burner at move in (that was fixed the following morning) and a running toilet (fixed the next day... a Sunday)
Parking has been somewhat of an issue when we have visitors... On one occasion we had someone park in our assigned spot. It was after-hours and the complex has a policy not to have automatic towing for residents. In other words... if another tenant uses your space, too bad. Only happened once... but regardless it was a pain.
The issue of noise will come up if you live on the railroad track side. We do. Typically I hear the train twice a day on intermittent days. Usually at around 5pm and then again at 8pm. Construction is going on with the track .... but the noise is acceptable although the first time you hear it chances are, you will be be startled. But it is not all the time and usually only bothers my cats.
Which brings up another consideration. They do accept pets.... be forewarned though, there is a "pet rent" of $35 a month. And an additional deposit ($600')
The issue of internet service is a downside. Dial up is about the best you can do. Wireless satellite service is available only if you live in direct view of the Pruneyard Tower, I don't. So far the telephone company and the cable company don't offer it... I've been told by different service reps that it is because the complex does not have copper lines' Not real sure of the details... only know that "I" can' t get it.
It is like a blessing in disguise regarding noise. There is a rule that states that you are not allowing to run your appliances after 10 pm. It does take a little getting use to but believe me, after having an upstairs neighbor run hers late... it is a blessing. The appliances are standard models not the luxury "whisper" models. We have had a few hot days here and have had the opportunity to run the AC... it does an excellent job keeping the living and kitchen areas cool to cold while the bedrooms are comfortable enough... even more so with a fan.
The good stuff.... yes there are nice things! The ceilings are high...so there is additional storage space in the top of the closets. Along with a locking closet on the patio. A fitness trainer comes in on Tues and Thurs and teaches a class. The pool is heated during the swimming season. I believe every unit has washer and dryer, the bonus is.... there are also laundry rooms space throughout the complex. At our building, those (front loaders) machines were newly installed and are very helpful for doing multiple loads for when I get behind. (Often!) The front office will also take delivery of packages and large envelopes if you are not home.
So the bottom line is.... yes, I would recommend living here. I haven't doubted my decision to move here. It isn't the taj mahal but I am very comfortable and content with my decision.
