Can't wait to find another place!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 4/13/2008
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Pros: Lovely neighbors, Washer & Dryer inside unit, Large bathroom, Location
Cons: Constant poorely scheduled constraction/up keep work (EVEN ON WEEKENDS!), Very early & noisy ladscape work (8 am), Lack of parking and noisy parking under your window, NOT enough storage or closet space, very poor ventilation, very old building, very old floors, Constant check-ups and walk-throughs, too cold when cold out and too hot when hot out, window are a joke - very flimsy with air seaping through.
I've lived in many places and for the money charged here - WAY TOO PRETENTIOUS! I wake up almost evey morning with someone slamming their car door literaly next to my bed. You see, they have these parking spaces right underneath your bedroom window. LITERALY next to your bed. Yes, you can move the bed. I did. 2 feet didn't make a difference. Especialy when 8 am a truck unloads soil next to my window again and with a metal shovel against the cement picking that soil up....ARRRR...can you even picture' 8 am! I have baby sleeping with me in the same room! Funny that the workers were nice to move and start from a different side of the property - the property manager gave a totaly different responce to this matter.
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas 2007 - each of these preholiday preparations were clustered with the entire property being painted outside. Fine. But why work a week or Hallowing and then stop for a month AFTER the holiday. Then paint again for the week of Thanksgiving and then stop AFTER the holiday. Same on Christmas. That just didn't make sence! Plus they would work on Weekends! This property does not have the best privacy and I don't want to wake to someone scraping around my bedroom window at 9 am on Saturday. First of all I need sleep. Second, I believe it is agains the law for construction work to be done on week-ends. Besides the better investment would be to replace all or those poor-old windows! Those windows have air seaping through and in addition with poor vantilation and building being old - in the end the appartment is humid, hot when you are trying to keep it cool and cold when you are trying to keep it warm. My favorite place in the apprtment is the bathroom - very spacious and has washer and dryer. The neighbors are very nice and friendly, especialy the ones living the opposite of my appartment location (not facing the parking lot). lol
Also, what's up with this constant check ins' Frankly I am sick of all that busy scraping, early engeens plus people walking through my place. I lived here for only a year and I had more check ins and maintenance to the place done... well seems like every month alsmot (!)...definitely more than my nerves can take.
I would not recomment this place from my experience. I'd rather go back to Oakwood appartments or see another Avalon. However if you do rent here DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT get the appartment with your bedroom window facing the parking lot, or you'll be feeling like you're crashing in someone's GARAGE!
I really wanted to like this place. It was my idea to move my family to Campbell and I am the first one who wants to move out. Maybe it is the year of scaping and fixing and having constant walk throughs at this property. And maybe it is the location of the actual unit I live in (bedroom facing parking lot, plus parking under my window as well). Whatever it is - is enough for me not to recommend this place.
