Not a bad deal...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
I have lived here for 3 years. Moved here for a job in 2005 and have been here ever since. Here are the pros and cons....
Pros:
-Probably the cheapest apartments in Canyon Country/Santa Clarita
-Maintenance can be good and fast... Especially when spraying for bugs.
-Generally safe area, just down the hill from homes that range from $5-800,000
-I have had some very nice, helpful neighbors over the years. I live in a "good" building. Diversity is not the problem as we have black, white, Mexican, and Indian all here in the same area.
-Good elementary school (Rio Vista)
Cons:
-Noisy children playing outside - not THAT bad though... People get along better when you stop to even just have a 5 minute conversation.
-A couple years ago, there was A LOT of tagging on the buildings near the bottom of the hill. There were also SEVERAL nights with helicopters, searchlights, and police cars. I feel like things have calmed down as I have not seen this in many months.
-Some fights that were clearly gang (or at least crew) related. This also has not happened in a couple years, to my knowledge.
-Illegals' Most likely. Many apartments seem to have 7-10 people living there permanently. I have been here for 3 years - plenty of time to see this stuff.
-Rent goes up every year... $1183 in 05 to $1345 this year.
-Maintenance can also be bad and slow... Took three days to get a new water heater (2x) and a new dishwasher took a couple MONTHS to arrive after some pretty serious badgering.
In general, I like it here and I feel lucky that the dart I threw at the map landed on CCV three years ago.
